One month on the job.... and more of March
So it's been a little over a month since I've started working. Still loving it and it's been such a positive work environment. The nurses that I've followed are all so brilliant. They know alot about what they are doing and WHY they are doing it. I cannot stress that word enough. I feel like during school I would see lots of nurses looking like they knew what was going on and completing their tasks, but if you asked them rationale and critical thinking... they might not know why a patient was getting a specific medication or procedure done. This has been something that I am really trying to develop. I want to understand why a patient needs the treatments we are giving them. And as I have learned, this is a good thing. So, this whole process is going to take a while to perfect, but for now, I ask lots of questions. :) But for the rest of work, it's good. I learn a little bit more everyday and I am feeling much more confident in my skills and what I do know already. I am taking 3 patients now and the maximum patient load for a nurse is 4 patients. Hopefully next week I will be taking 4 patients and learning how to organize my day.
Not too much has changed in our little life here in Spokane besides that. It has snowed twice this week and today there was probably an inch or two. yuck. I'm ready for spring to get here. Pretty much right now, I feel like all Sean and I do is wake up, go to work, come home and eat dinner and fall asleep from exhaustion. We still try to have a date night every week and get out to see a movie. And on Tuesday night's we head out to the Valley to have dinner with Sean's mom, Sandi, and his brother, Doug and his new wife, Heather. Those two nights a week are about all we have to keep us sane, and for now it is enough.... I guess we also bought some fun new strategy board games which help with the monotony.
Well that is it for our boring life. We are healthy, safe and happy, so in the grand scheme of things we are good :)
